Tools To Interrupt Self-Sabotage

Self-sabotage holds us back from our goals. But by recognising these patterns and having tools to interrupt them when they arise, we can re-pattern self-sabotage into new supportive patterns.

Here are the two tools I use with my clients when we do intensive sessions:

First tool is the Safe Space. This tool helps us visualise a version of ourselves that feels safe, secure, and at ease. Whenever you're feeling anxious or demotivated about reaching your goals, tap into your Safe Space. Picture yourself in a place where you feel completely supported and free from doubt. It's your mental refuge from self-doubt and fear.

Second tool is the Trigger Tamer. Use this when notice a shift in your motivation. Maybe you wake up feeling like skipping your workout or avoiding a commitment. That's your trigger talking. When you sense this change in your flow, pause. Take a moment to acknowledge any self-doubt or pressure creeping in. Then, use the Trigger Tamer to make space for these feelings without letting them derail your progress. This technique will break the trance as well as give you clarity about your next move so that you can get back into flow.

Remember that your mind on the one had wants to keep you safe, but on the other hand it also wants to grow. The tools help with both - it calms the mind as well as challenges it to grow. So keep at it!
