Building Bridges: The Power Of Connection
Recognising the importance of connection is crucial. Loneliness can significantly impact our mental well-being, and sometimes we unintentionally build barriers that isolate us. This week, we thought it would be valuable for everyone to engage in some self-reflection on how to break free from these self-imposed limitations and foster a stronger sense of community.
Do These 5 Self-Imposed Barriers Sound Familiar?
Sometimes, we unknowingly build walls that isolate us. Some barriers that I thought of are…
1.Fear of rejection:
This is definitely a relatable one: the dread of being turned away can prevent us from reaching out.
2.Setting boundaries:
I’m all too guilty of setting too many boundaries sometimes, keeping people at arm's length.
3.Comparing ourselves
Measuring ourselves against others can really impact how connected we feel.
4.Overdependence on tech:
Excessive screen time can replace genuine human interaction.
5.”Not in the mood”
Telling ourselves we're not in the mood or need to be in the right mood for people can also be a barrier.
Do you have any self-imposed barriers that you’ve identified in your own lives?
