The 5 Types Of Help You Need To Achieve Your Goals

With the seasons changing, it feels like big changes are ahead for many of us. So with that in mind, we’ve summarised the 5 types of help you need to make strides and give yourself the best chance of success. 

  1. 💼 Practical: Recruiting others to take on tasks you can’t or don’t want to do to free up your time and energy - think creative projects, household chores, food shopping and preparation, childcare, organization, repairs. While a financial commitment might cause anxiety, you can look within your means. Perhaps start with a few hours, or consider a trade exchange. 

  2. 💪 Emotional: seeking motivation and encouragement from others especially during setbacks and challenges. Spending time with people who are ambitious and supportive will make you feel less alone, give you someone to talk to about the challenges along the way. 

  3. 📝 Information and advice: Some of your goals will be beyond your capabilities and you will need expertise you don’t yet have. Friend networks, community forums, groups offer ways of getting crowd-sourced, real-time knowledge from subject matter experts.

  4. 👭 Accountability: The help you need when you need a push. It means taking responsibility for your decisions and actions, and being answerable to the consequences.  When people know what your goals or intentions are, they can check in with you - it helps you to get stuff done, stay on track and committed and you can also get useful feedback.

  5. 👩‍🎓Expansion: connecting with people who have already been where you are now and have gone on to become successful in, own, or embody what you want (job, relationship, house, success, friendships, relationship with self, etc). They can help bridge the distance between where you are and where you desire to go.
